Alan M. Sowell

Alan M. Sowell is a member of the firm and has30 years of experience representing insurance companies, corporations and individuals in civil litigation matters. An experienced trial lawyer, Mr. Sowell has tried numerous jury and bench trials throughout Tennessee. He has a deep background in insurance defense, with a concentration on commercial transportation and personal auto accident litigation. He is also experienced in defending professional negligence claims and insurance coverage issues.

Professional Associations
Mr. Sowell is a member of the Nashville and Tennessee Bar Associations, a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates  and a Fellow of the Nashville Bar Foundation. He is also a member of the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association (TDLA), the Defense Research Institute (DRI), and the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FICC). Additionally, Mr. Sowell is a member of the Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA), the only organization devoted exclusively to the defense of the trucking industry.  He has been named a Mid-South Super Lawyer for 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Mr. Sowell received his B.A. in Business Administration and Political Science from Vanderbilt University in 1982. He received his J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in 1985.

Mr. Sowell is admitted to practice in the State of Tennessee, as well as the United States District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Tennessee. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
